This was the easiest blog post title I have ever come up with. For the moment it is quite literal. Soon, however, my wife will take the baby from me and my GWAM will increase exponentially. This is our everyday. It is what we’ve come to expect when we are awakened with the cries of “I’m hungry!” “Can we watch something?” “Wake up Daddy!” Our life is, simply put, chaotic.
We have recently decided to add to the chaos with the task of selling our home and moving into an RV full time. We’re going to take our ministry on the road. It’s something we’ve talked about for a long time. Even before Four Point Families was a thing we were dreaming of motor home road trips west on RT66 and vacations to visit family on the East coast while carrying our home with us the entire way. Basically making our journey and adventure our lifestyle. Traveling right now is something we do. Our goal is to make it our life. Though the stress of transitioning into this life is intense we are excited for the possibility of limiting the chaos in the future.
It’s amazing what the “American Dream” has become. More stuff, less time, more stress, less priority, more work, less play, more debt, and less freedom. It’s tragic to think that in a country where we can be whatever we chose to be we are bound by what everyone else says we should be. Not our family. Not anymore!
Our life will always be chaotic but our goal is chaos for the right reasons. Typing with one hand because I’m holding a baby is a good problem. Having to take a break from fundraising calls because my son needs help with his legos is a just cause for distraction. I don’t expect to be stress and chaos free. We are simply trading in the new American Dream that seems more like a nightmare for a new dream. A dream that puts family, ministry, God, and our experiences before all else. I’m excited about it! Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go take my baby boy back from his mommy.
What is your dream?
What is stopping you from living it?
How can you change your focus from the elusive goals of our society to something you know you were created for?
Let’s have a conversation in the comments below:
